HENNA BEE FAQ

Can you henna over a regular chemical tint?

We recommend waiting at least 2 weeks after any chemical application before applying Henna Bee!

Can you remove/FIX Henna Bee if it’s too dark?

Unfortunately not. You can recommend that the client has a hot, steamy shower and exfoliate the brow area to fade it faster off the skin, however, they will have to wait for it to naturally fade from the skin. No matter what do not bleach the area!

However, you can always go darker! So while you’re new to Henna always be a little more conservative with your color choices until you become comfortable with the colors!

In this training video you can see how Adelle deals with a color correction with a client.

Can I do a Brow Lamination & Henna Bee Eyebrow Tint in the same service?

Yes! With the Bee Pampered line of products, you can complete both services together! Be sure to complete the brow lamination FIRST and do note that when you complete both services together the henna likely will not stain the skin beneath the brows due to the lamination process.

Always perform brow lamination first and henna eyebrow tint second. Processing time for the henna will be MUCH faster. Leave the henna on for only around 5 minutes for the full tint. When doing both services together the henna will not stain the skin beneath the brows.

By completing both services together you can charge a client up to $95 and both services should take no more than 45 minutes to complete.

HENNA BEE TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE

The skin’s retention of the henna stain comes down to the client’s skin type. For some clients, it can last up to 2 weeks, while for others, it’s only a few days. Clients with oily skin will likely see a shorter retention period than those with drier skin.

However, you can do a few things to increase the skin’s retention of the henna, providing clients with that fuller brow appearance for longer.

Warm the skin.

Given Henna Bee is a natural product that doesn’t require chemicals or oxidants to activate, it does need HEAT! If you can warm the skin before service, you will see increased skin retention.

A great way to do this is by applying a warm compress or a heated eye mask to the skin 5 minutes before the service. This will warm the skin up and allow for better henna activation.

Use hotter water to mix and activate the henna.

As noted above, heat activates Henna Bee so try increasing the temperature of the water you use to mix the henna.

Get the right consistency – like honey.

If your henna is too dry or runny, it will not stain the skin properly. It would be best if you had a honey-like consistency. See our training video for getting the perfect henna consistency here.

Cleanse the skin with an oil-free cleanser.

Surface oils will prohibit the henna from straining the skin, so clean the area before service with an oil-free cleanser like the Bee Pampered gentle foam cleanser included with every starter kit.

Increase processing time.

Leave the henna on the client for up to 20 minutes to see improved skin retention. This part may vary from client to client as some take to the henna quicker than others. As you check the henna, gently remove it from the head of the brow. If you see it is not taking to the skin, increase the time the henna stays on the skin.

If the henna begins to dry on the brows, add warm (hot) water with a Q-Tip to keep the henna working.

If you previously have only processed for 5 minutes and love the colour your client’s brows are getting but want more skin retention, we suggest mixing a lighter shade and leaving it on for longer. This should get you the right colour and increase skin retention.
