Henna Brows vs Microblading – Which Brow Service Is Better?

With bolder eyebrows taking center stage as the latest eyebrow beauty trend there are two services available for clients to help them achieve their #InstaBrow look, microblading and henna brows. So how do you know which one to offer to your clients?

In this article we’ll give you a breakdown of the differences between henna brows and microblading eyebrow tinting services and will showcase why offering BOTH at your spa can ensure every client achieves their ultimate eyebrow look and brow shape!

Plus, we’ll explain that not every henna eyebrow tint is created equal and why Henna Bee eyebrow tint is one of the safest, most natural products in the beauty industry for perfect eyebrow shape.

What is Henna Eyebrow Tinting?

Henna eyebrow tinting is a popular brow treatment that involves using henna dye to tint the eyebrows. Henna is a natural dye derived from the leaves of the henna plant.

It has been used for centuries in body art and to dye the skin and hair. Henna eyebrow tinting uses a specially formulated henna brow tint that is semi-permanent and can last up to six weeks.

The tint is applied to the brow hair and skin, creating a stained effect that enhances the shape and color of the eyebrows.

Henna brow tinting is a great option for those looking for a longer-lasting solution to enhance their eyebrows without the need for daily makeup application.

The treatment is safe and non-toxic, making it suitable for most individuals. With henna eyebrow tinting, you can achieve natural-looking and defined brows that last for weeks.

Are there benefits to Brow Henna?

Brow henna is a popular alternative to traditional brow dye because of its numerous benefits. Unlike regular dye, brow henna not only adds color but also helps to thicken and strengthen the eyebrow hairs, resulting in a fuller and more defined brow shape. The henna dye contains natural ingredients that are less harsh on the skin and provide a more natural-looking tint.

Additionally, brow henna is a semi-permanent solution, lasting up to six weeks, which means less frequent touch-ups. This makes it a great option for those who want to enhance their eyebrows without committing to a permanent change.

Moreover, brow henna can be customized based on the client's hair color and desired intensity, allowing for a more personalized experience. Overall, the benefits of brow henna include improved eyebrow shape, increased fullness, longer-lasting results, and a more natural appearance.

HENNA BROWS THE GATEWAY TO MICROBLADING

At Bee Pampered, creators of Henna Bee eyebrow tint, we often refer to henna brows as the gateway to microblading!

Henna brows are a non-permanent, non-invasive service that tints the eyebrow hair for 6-8 weeks but also stains the skin beneath the brows for up to a week. This stain beneath the brows provides clients with a bolder, fuller eyebrow appearance similar to microblading but in a pain-free, non-permanent service.

Henna brows are a great consultation tool for clients who are thinking about getting microblading done but aren’t ready to commit to the procedure without first seeing what their brows might look like.

HENNA BROW TINTING OVER MICROBLADING

If a client has microblading done then they likely still need to get their brow hair tinted, especially if they have grey hair or need to color match their microblading.

Henna is a completely safe service to offer to clients who have microbladed brows. Our brow henna is made with 75% plant-based ingredients, contains no lead or ammonia, and requires no chemicals or oxidants to activate, only warm water.

Our unique formula coats the hair which make it the best at covering up grey hairs, or those stubborn white coarse hairs that are typically no tinted with traditional chemical-based tints. Plus, by coating the hair, Henna Bee locks in moisture and encourages healthy, hydrated and fuller brows.

With Henna Bee you have 6 colors to choose from ensuring you can find the perfect color match to complement any microblading.

Henna eyebrow tinting is also a great solution for clients who are nearing the end of their microblading lifetime. As the skin begins to absorb the iron oxide henna eyebrow tint can fill in the eyebrow and freshen up the brow tint to maintain the microblading appearance for longer.

Microblading or Henna Brows – What’s Better?

Honestly, we think microblading and a henna brow service are both great services and you don’t have to choose just one! Offering both services to your clients is a great way to keep your client’s brows looking their best and to give your clients more options for amazing brows.

Henna Eyebrows:

  • Fills in brows for up to a week.
  • Tints eyebrow hairs for 6-8 weeks.
  • Requires regular maintenance every 6 weeks or so.
  • Price varies from $35 – $60 per service.

Microblading:

  • Fills in brows for up to 3 years.
  • Does not tint eyebrow hair.
  • Requires maintenance, touchups every year or so for $250-$500.
  • Initial service costs $250 to $1000.

How Henna Brows Tinting Works

Henna eyebrows is a non-permanent service that tints the eyebrow hair and stains the skin beneath the brows. There are little to no risks involved with henna eyebrows other than rare potential skin irritations. The stain on the skin fades within a week, and the color on the hair lasts 6-8 weeks which means there is very little risk for clients.

Compared to traditional tints, Henna Bee, our brand, is a far superior eyebrow tint. it lasts longer on the hair (6-8 weeks compared to only 4 for chemical tints) plus it is made with 75% plant-based ingredients and requires no chemicals or oxidants to activate only warm water! Due to its unique formulation the henna actually coats the hair locking in moisture encouraging healthier, hydrated brows unlike traditional chemical tints which penetrate the hair causing it to dry out and become damaged.

The average henna brows service using Henna Bee should take less than 30 minutes to complete and we recommend getting the service done every 4 to 6 weeks to maintain killer eyebrows. Our recommended charge for a henna eyebrows tint with Henna Bee is $35-$50 and we suggest adding a hair removal service like waxing once the Henna Bee service is complete to provide clients a complete eyebrow transformation and to increase the overall value of the service.

How Microblading Works

Microblading is a semi-permanent tattoo service that works by embedding ink into the skin around the eyebrow using a 12-15” needle blade. The service is semi-permanent due to the fact the ink used is iron oxide which the body will absorb over time. In comparison a traditional tattoo uses ink with much larger molecules that are inserted deeper into your skin and do not get absorbed by the body.

Typically microblading lasts up to 3 years and requires touch-ups every year or so. The initial service takes around 2 hours and can cost anywhere from $450 – $1000 with each annual touch-up costing around $250 – $500. The biggest risk associated with the semi-permanent service is making sure you find a qualified microblading artist that provides the look you want to achieve.

What microblading doesn’t do is tint the eyebrow hair, it only fills in the area surrounding the brows. This is where henna brows and microblading work so well together because clients who have their brows microbladed can ALSO have their brows tinted with henna.

Henna Bee eyebrow tint a natural alternative

During our creation of Henna Bee eyebrow tint, we tested many different henna eyebrow products to find one that worked right for us and our clients. We wanted something as natural as possible that provided clients with amazing results and was safe and approved for use in Canada and the United States.

After years of testing different formulas, we decided to launch our own and worked directly with a team in India to create Henna Bee! Made with 75% plant-based ingredients, including henna of course, Henna Bee contains no lead or ammonia, is vegan friendly, and requires no chemicals or oxidants to activate only warm water (great for sensitive skin)!

Henna Bee tints the eyebrows for 6-8 weeks and stains the skin beneath the brows for up to a week depending on the client’s skin type. Its natural properties also encourage healthy eyebrow hair growth as it coats the eyebrow hair locking in moisture promoting healthy hair, unlike traditional chemical-based tints which pull moisture from the hair dehydrating it which leaves hair unhealthy and damaged.

We have several Henna Bee starter kits available to get you started using Henna Bee on your clients. All of our kits include access to our free training plus the ability to become certified and added to our online certified artist database.
