Everything you need to know about henna brows

Henna Brows are quickly becoming one of the hottest trends in eyebrow tinting but what exactly are henna brows and what’s so great about getting them done or offering a henna brow service to your clients?

As spa professionals, we have been offering professional henna brow tinting to our clients for years and, after becoming frustrated that we couldn’t find a henna brow product we loved, we created our own proprietary henna brow tint called Henna Bee

Through our experience with Henna Bee, we have put together an outline of some of the top FAQs we receive from potential henna brow clients and fellow spa professionals considering adding the henna brow service to their roster.

What are henna brows & why is it better than a traditional eyebrow tint?

Henna brows are a natural alternative to traditional eyebrow coloring. Traditional eyebrow tints are primarily made of chemicals while most henna brow products are made of natural plant-based ingredients including Lewsonia Insermis aka – henna, a flowering plant commonly used to dye skin, hair and fingernails.

With a henna brow product, like Henna Bee, you are getting a product that is made with 75% plant-based ingredients, contains no lead or ammonia, is vegan-friendly and requires no chemicals or oxidants to activate, only warm water. This means it’s safer for clients AND for spa professionals.

Plus, unlike traditional chemical-based tints that dry out or damage eyebrows, henna brows coats the hair and locks in moisture keeping hair healthy and hydrated which often encourages hair growth.

One of the other key benefits of henna brows compared to a traditional eyebrow tint is the fact henna brows not only dye the eyebrow but it is also a brow filler. The henna stains the skin beneath the brows for up to two weeks with the tint lasting on the eyebrows for 6-8 weeks.

Will henna brows turn my eyebrows a reddish-brown?

You’re probably familiar with henna body art, also known as Mehndi, used in many ancient traditions. The henna dye stains the skin orange to start and darkens over days to a deep reddish-brown due to oxidation.

But fear not, by using high-quality henna brow products like Henna Bee your eyebrows will not turn bright orange or change color over time. With Henna Bee our formula includes other plant-based ingredients including Cassia Obovata and Indigofera Tinctoria which work alongside the henna to ensure consistent colors that do not oxidize over time. Your eyebrows will remain true to color.

With Henna Bee we have six colors available to match any complexion or brow color. You can also mix our colors to create the perfect shade for any client.

How long do henna brows last?

Traditionally the stain on the skin from henna brows lasts up to two weeks and the dye on eyebrows lasts 6-8 weeks.

Customers with oily complexions or in humid climates may find the stain on the skin does not last as long due to the fact their skin will not hold onto the dye for as long.

How long is a henna brow service?

A standard henna brow service should take no longer than 30 minutes. Many spa professionals can complete a henna brow service AND a hair removal service within 30 minutes.

Is henna brow easy to use?

Not every henna brow product is created equal, but Henna Bee is designed to be incredibly easy for spa professionals to use. All you need is very warm water to activate the product and a cotton pad & warm water to remove it.

Who is a henna brow service good for?

One of the best things about a henna brow service is that it’s a great service for almost everyone! From old to young, to clients with lots or little hair, henna brows is a great non-invasive, non-permanent eyebrow coloring solution for anyone.

The only people we don’t recommend a henna brow service for is anyone with broken skin or skin disorders near the eyebrow, G6PD deficiency, or Seborrheic dermatitis.

For customers with sensitive skin, we recommend conducting a patch test 24 hours prior to service to ensure no sensitivities. However, we have yet to come across any clients who had a negative reaction to a Henna Bee eyebrow tinting service.

I provide microblading to my clients, why would I also offer henna brows?

We often call henna brows the gateway to microblading as it gives clients a chance to get used to a new eyebrow look before committing to the microblading procedure.

We also find many clients who are nearing the end of their microblading procedure use henna brows as a way to fill in their brows until their next touch up.

What are the best henna eyebrow tints?

As mentioned above, not all henna brow products are equal. Before we created Henna Bee we tested many different henna eyebrow kits with our clients and we could not find one that we liked, in fact, one of the products we used did not even contain henna!

Through our frustration, we worked directly with a supplier in India to create, in our opinion, the best henna eyebrow formula, Henna Bee. We have six colors available and you can easily mix colors to match any client’s skin complexion.

Henna Bee is created by spa professionals for spa professionals. We have made it easy to start offering professional henna eyebrow tinting to your clients with our online training videos, and Henna Bee starter kit. We’ve also built the product to include great profit potential with up to $1000 profit available in every 3.5 g bottle of Henna Bee.
